About

I’m a Southern Belle, living, cooking and trying to avoid Hill staffers in the epicenter of political influence. I was warned when I moved to DC that the people here aren’t friendly. Imagine my surprise when I found that to be utterly false. I have made some great friends in this city and can truly say I have found my home.

I have a strong commitment to buying fresh, local and in season food and sharing this belief with others.  By connecting with those who make your food, you not only support local farms and vendors, you make a commitment to your health and the health of our environment.  My hope is to take the confusion out of buying locally, with recipes and resources that (hopefully) will inspire others to hit the farms and farmers markets in their area!

I love food…I love DC…I write about both…enough said.

I just wanted to say hello. I am a midwestern transplant to DC (lived here for six years now) and totally agree with you. People are actually very nice here– aside from the occasional angry commuter scolding tourists on Metro escalators!
I love all the creative recipes here, and look forward to reading more.

Just had to chime in and say that I also live in DC and I DO NOT like that stereotype. There are so many nice people in DC!

Anyway, I love the site. Your photos are really looking good. That natural light is nice huh!

    Cheers,
