I feel your pain, I do. I lost my kitty on (of all days) Valentine's Day. I was on my way to visit her in the hospital for visiting hours and she passed on...I never got to say goodbye to her. It's been 3 years now...I am like you, in saying she was a huge part of my life for 17 years. You will get to see her again and that reunion will be just wonderful--remember that ok?
